Job Description:
Purpose of the Role
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the efficient, safe, and cost-effective opera on of the warehouse, ensuring proper receipt, storage, handling, and dispatch of goods while maintaining accurate inventory records and compliance with company policies and regulations.
Scope of Responsibilities Operational Management
- Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and
- Ensure optimal warehouse layout and space
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure smooth flow of
Cold Chain Management
- Oversee daily warehouse operations for both perishable (temperature-controlled) and dry goods.
- Manage cold storage facilities (chillers, freezers, refrigerated zones) and ensure uninterrupted cold chain integrity.
- Monitor and record temperature and humidity levels; ensure corrective actions are taken in case of deviations.
- Ensure proper segregation of perishable and non-perishable
- Implement FIFO/FEFO principles, particularly for perishable
- Ensure preventive maintenance of cold chain equipment and backup systems.
Inventory Management & High-SKU Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock counts for both perishables and dry goods.
- Minimize stock losses, damages, and
- Monitor stock levels and support demand planning and
- Monitor expiry dates, shelf life, and batch/lot
- Manage warehouses with a large number of SKUs, ensuring accurate identification, storage location control, and traceability
Staff Management
- Supervise, train, and evaluate warehouse
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate
- Enforce discipline, safety standards, and performance
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare operational and inventory
- Monitor warehouse KPIs (accuracy, turnaround time, productivity, losses).
- Control warehouse operating costs and budgets.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Inventory accuracy rate
- Order fulfilment and turnaround time
- Stock loss and damage rates
- Warehouse productivity and efficiency
- Compliance with safety standards
Experience
- Minimum 3–7 years experience in warehouse or logistics
- At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial
- Experience in supermarket or retail distribution receiving operations.
- Proven experience managing large SKU counts in a fast-moving
- Hands-on experience with cold chain operations for perishable
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is required.
Qualifications / Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in:
- Logistics
- Supply Chain Management
- Business Administration
- Operations Management
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
- Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD)
- Warehouse Management or Inventory Control Certification
- Health & Safety Certification
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Inventory control and analytical skills
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and regulations
- Excellent high-SKU inventory control and organization skills
- Proficiency in WMS, ERP systems, and MS Excel
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Working Conditions
- May require shift work, weekends, or
- Involves physical presence in warehouse
- Compliance with safety gear and procedures is mandatory
Duration & Working Conditions
- Location of Work: Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
- Working Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm
- Accommodation on sharing basis
- Transport allowance to and fro office
- Air ticket upon 2 years of successful completion of the contract
- Increment and Appraisal Process - After successful completion of 2 years contract duration
