New Product Development Manager
Job Description:
Brief Job Profile:
The role involves –
- Overseeing and managing all operations of New Product Development (R & D) at the plant.
- Visiting customer sites to understand product applications and provide technical support as needed.
- Evaluating capital expenditures for new projects and the re-engineering of existing processes, assessing Return on Investment (ROI), and visiting various machine manufacturers in India and abroad.
Some Important Responsibilities of a Manager – New Product Development
ADVANCE PRODUCT QUALITY PLANNING & MANAGEMENT
- Analyses new queries from Internal & External Customers to ensure that customer milestones are met as per the development plan considering APQP.
- Defines Process flow, Process controls and Monitors Material requirement to ensure that product meets customer’s specifications.
RESOURCE ESTIMATION & OPTIMIZATION
- Ensures that necessary tooling & mechanism is developed to deliver the product in optimum cost and with required quality specification.
- Assesses Automation requirements & Prepares Project information.
- Sources & negotiates with Suppliers for Purchase of Machinery or required mechanism.
- Prepares Costing related to Labor & tooling for New Product Development and Coordinates with Business Development Team.
- Estimates Scrape percentage for New Products.
PRODUCT & PROCESS IMPROVIZATION
- Continuously seeks area for Improvisation.
- Ensures Implementation of Product & Process.
- Identifies the areas to improve yield/reduction in labor cost & consumable cost per MT.
Candidate Profile (Qualification, Experience, Skills & Abilities):
- M.E/M.Tech./ B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 10-12 years of experience. OR
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 12-15 years of experience.
- Must have held a managerial role for 5-7 years in an HVAC / Engineering / Automotive Component manufacturing unit.
- Sharp understanding of Product Design/innovation, understanding of Engineering efficiency.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machinery and understanding of product design and Too Room Operations
- Must be well versed with APQP Framework
- Exposure in engineering design tools such as Solid Works , Auto CAD
- Knowledgeable in 5S/KAIZEN, quality audit systems, statutory and factory compliances, and safety norms.
- Candidate must be capable of close interaction with Business Development Team and Customers for understanding their Product Design & Applications
- Strong people management skills.
- Proficient in manpower management and labor management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
- Basic computer literacy, including email and MS Office. Exposure to ERP systems is an advantage.
- Enthusiastic and proactive in taking new initiatives.
- Willingness to travel to company’s plants outside Gujarat.
